LITERATURE
A Painter's Country: The Autobiography of A.Y. Jackson, paperback edition, 1964, page 71
Christopher Varley, Albert H. Robinson: The Mature Years, Update 4(1), 1983, page 6
Robinson was a peer of the Group of Seven, and a painting trip companion of A.Y. Jackson on more than one occasion. Christopher Varley observed that Robinson's "winter scenes are widely admired" and that he had notable "skill at integrating light and colour". Jackson wrote that "Robinson and I went to Bienville, a small village just below Quebec on the south shore. In March when the snow was melting, when the roads were covered with slush and the ice was going up and down the river with the tides, it was a fascinating place to paint."
