Although a well-considered verbal estimate of value may be
helpful, a professional appraisal report is the usual requirement
for financial and legal purposes. Heffel’s staff includes experienced,
certified professional art appraisers for your insurance, probate, family
division and other business or personal needs.
A professional appraisal will include a full description of each work of art in
your collection. The appraised values are based upon research of relevant sales
data for each work, the general condition and typicality of the work and the
purpose of the appraisal. Digital photographs are normally included in the
appraisal. Our staff will only provide appraisals for art works
and objets d’art which fall within their areas of expertise; but
we will be pleased to suggest other reliable sources of professional opinion.
An estimate of the cost will be provided before the appraisal research begins;
however, fees may vary depending on the complexity of the research and where
the works are housed
in the event that travel to examine them is required. Should
a revision of values be required within five years of the original appraisal,
only a nominal fee will apply.
Heffel’s fee will be refunded on a pro rata basis if any of the valued
works are consigned to us for auction within five years
of the date of the appraisal.
We also offer free verbal auction estimates for your Fine Art pieces. Click here to fill out our online appraisal form.
