The bowl is of large proportions and decorated in brass wire with various enamels including pink, turquoise, lavender, red and blue. The central roundel depicts a large koi fish going up a waterfall beside pine and bamboo, and the border has fan-shaped panels containing seasonal florals, all banded in a metal mount. The reverse is raised on a splayed footrim and contains further panels depicting florals on a geometric ground.
