PROVENANCE
Niagara Falls Museum, Ontario
Collection of William (Billy) Jamieson, Toronto
Private Collection, British Columbia

William (Billy) Jamieson (1954 – 2011) was a collector, reality television star and dealer in tribal art who was internationally known for his vast collection of the rare and unusual. His clients included the Royal Ontario Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and private collectors such as Steven Tyler and Mick Jagger.

In 1999 Jamieson bought the then-closed Niagara Falls Museum, including its collection of approximately 700,000 objects. Among these objects was the mummy of Ramses I which Jamieson famously sold to the Michael C. Carlos Museum in Atlanta, Georgia. The mummy was eventually returned to Egypt.
