In the summers of 1948 and 1949, Frederick Varley taught at the Doon School of Fine Arts near Kitchener, Ontario. He stayed at an inn near the school so that he could continue to work on his own, and did a considerable body of work while there - drawings, oil sketches and watercolours - such as this fluid and atmospheric sketch of mountains through a screen of trees.

Estimate: $8,000 - $10,000 CAD
