Richard Attila Lukacs is a Hungarian-Canadian painter who began his career in Vancouver, where he was associated with the Young Romantics, a group of emerging figurative artists exploring expressive, often provocative imagery. Lukacs is best known for his Berlin period (1986–1996), when he created large-scale, theatrical paintings of skinheads, uniformed men, and other figures that explore desire, masculinity, intimacy, and social hierarchy.
