PROVENANCE
Acquired directly from the Artist by an Important Private Canadian Collection

Charlene Vickers’ textile works occupy a central position within her multidisciplinary practice, functioning as material enactments of memory, cultural reclamation, and embodied territoriality. An Anishinaabe artist from Wauzhushk Onigum First Nation, Vickers integrates sewn fibre assemblages and hand-worked materials into a broader artistic vocabulary that spans painting, sculpture, and performance. Textile processes in Vickers’ practice frequently engage the sensorial and relational qualities of Anishinaabe craft traditions. Her sewn fibre works often evoke the tactile intimacy of quillwork, beadwork, and other Indigenous material practices.

Her work has been included in recent exhibitions such as Ancestor Gesture at the Contemporary Art Gallery (2021), Rain Shadow at the Nanaimo Art Gallery (2021), and participation in Reverberations at the Seattle Art Museum (2023. Her work is currently featured in an exhibition at the Richmond Art Gallery, The Chromophiliacs (January 24 - April 4, 2026).

This piece consists of 11 individual felt works with thread and beading.

The dimensions listed include the frame.
