PROVENANCE
Acquired in Hong Kong by the Collection of Stephen Poulin, Toronto, 2008
Carved in high relief on the front side, with a luohan seated under a gnarled tree in a deep grotto, holding prayer beads in his hands. The reverse carved with a lingzhi fungus growing on a cliffside, with a waterfall hidden in misty mountains. The stone is of an even celadon tone, softly polished, with fine russet skins incorporated into the design.
