Philip Fry notes that "The theme for Köln Express seems to have first occurred in sketches done while Colville was Hong Kong in early 1985." A Polaroid image reveals that Colville used himself as the model for the man on the bench.

Please note: this lot contains two works. The first complete serigraph is signed, dated and editioned. The second serigraph is a single colour partial impression in grey-green. As this colour is a darker shade than in the serigraph, it is possible that this was a colour experiment.
