Michipicoten Bay was a beloved sketching area for A.Y. Jackson. The artist owned a property there with friends Harry and Jennie Ross, the original owners of this work. From 1954 to 1966, Jackson would regularly spend his summers painting the landscape, producing works such as this beautiful vista of the Bay as it opens into Lake Superior.
