Browning, Montana, is a town in Glacier Country situated on American Blackfeet Indian lands, directly across the border from Canada. It is part of the Blackfoot Confederacy. These lands were among the places visited by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark in their Corps of Discovery Expedition (1804 - 1806). The Blood Indians, or Kainai people of Alberta, are also a part of the Blackfoot Confederacy, and were among the many different groups of Plains Indians that de Grandmaison immortalized in his work.
