On verso is the following text from the artist, describing the scene:

"7. Many false prophets will arise; and many will be deceived by them, and the charity of most men will grow cold.

This is on Highway 7, about two miles south of our farm. I've decided to depict as false prophets the materialistic advertising media that promises us heaven on earth; also those who attack and undermine moral authority. One of these 'prophets' today is the groups pressing for abortion on demand - the taking of innocent life at its beginning. The end result of such logic will be that those at the other end of life too, namely, the aged since they hinder healthy people's enjoyment of good life, should also be removed. Here this farmer has decided that his old dad should be 'put to sleep,' and the New Order obliges. The family, cheerfully inured to what at one time was regarded as murder, waves good-bye to Grandad."
