LITERATURE
Doris McCarthy, The Good Wine: An Artist Comes of Age, 1991, page 158

"The painting was terrific here too. Twice a day at Pangnirtung the tide came in, bringing with it a flotilla of ice floes that sailed up the fiord like a regatta of small bergs. As the tide ebbed, the went back to the sea, their restless movement keeping me in a constant state of excitement." - Doris McCarthy, The Good Wine

“Fresh Vision: Works by Doris McCarthy” comes to Heffel from a private collector and personal friend of the artist, committed to the promotion of McCarthy’s legacy. The works included were acquired directly from McCarthy’s Estate in 2019, and since then, the inspired patron has donated more than 400 artworks to the University of Toronto Scarborough’s Doris McCarthy Gallery. The thoughtful division of the collection ensures McCarthy’s work is comprehensively represented in the public domain and accessible to scholars, art professionals and the community. Heffel is honoured to present a select group of works from this important collection for private collectors to embrace and enjoy.
