In 2005, the HBC Heritage department held a fashion design contest at two design schools in Canada: Kwantlen College in Vancouver and LaSalle College in Montreal. Contestants were invited to submit contemporary designs made from a 6 point or 8 point HBC Point Blanket. Completed garments and sketches were exhibited at the Hudson’s Bay store in Downtown Vancouver.

9) Jacket with cape back and short pants (#1712) This design won the Popular Vote.
