This lot features a selection of: 2 Fort Vancouver Centennial Half Dollar Coins (silver), 5 The Bay 5 dollar tokens, 15 Kitchener Waterloo Oktoberfest $2 Walter Zeller Commemorative Coins, 2000.

The Fort Vancouver Centennial Half Dollar was released in 1925 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Fort Vancouver by the Hudson's Bay Company, State of Washington. Produced by the San Francisco Mint. The obverse design features the likeness and name of Dr. John McLoughlin, builder of the fort. The reverse features the full-length figure of a frontiersman with gun, the fort and a mountain peak in the background.

Obverse Inscriptions: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / IN GOD WE TRUST / 1825 / 1925 / DR. JOHN MCLOUGHLIN / HALF DOLLAR

Reverse Inscriptions: FORT VANCOUVER CENTENNIAL / VANCOUVER WASHINGTON FOUNDED 1825 BY HUDSON'S BAY COMPANY

The Bay 5 dollar tokens, inscribed: "Negotiable Only at Bay Stores / 1974". Issued in 1974 to augment the paper gift certificate program, the coins were meant to be durable, re-usable, and held as a collector's piece. 100,000 coins were struck by Sherrit Gordon Mines in nickel alloy, and sent to the Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, Ottawa and Winnipeg stores.

15 Oktoberfest coins, One side features an image of Walter Zeller (1890-1957) with the inscription "President and Founder of Zellers Inc." The other side has an image of an Oktoberfest wagon and the inscription "Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario-Canada Value $2.00 in Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest October 31 2000."

The auction preview will be held at Heffel Toronto April 15-16 by appointment only.

Please note that Heffel's standard Buyer's Premium applies to each lot in the Hudson’s Bay Company auction. The Buyer’s Premium is the amount paid by the Buyer to the Auction House on the purchase of a lot, which is calculated on the Hammer Price as follows: a rate of 25% of the Hammer Price of the Lot up to and including $25,000; plus 20% on the part of the Hammer Price over $25,000, plus applicable Sales Tax.

The Buyer is responsible for all pickup and shipping costs and arrangements. All lots will be sold “as is, where is” and will be deemed as released in Ontario and HST will be applied.
