Autumn was painted at the site of a deserted Haida Village - Ninstints - on the southern tip of the Queen Charlotte Islands (Anthony Island). On entering the bay, numerous totem poles can be found lying on the ground (32 to be exact). This painting was completed in 1978 during Robert Genn's visit to the island.
