Heffel is pleased to present an exclusive offering of four lithograph prints by renowned Canadian landscape artist Doris McCarthy. Acquired directly from the artist’s estate in 2019, the lithographs were created at the height of McCarthy’s remarkable career. Having achieved widespread acclaim for her atmospheric renderings of Canada, in the spring of 1991 McCarthy travelled to St. John’s, Newfoundland to study stone lithography at St. Michael’s Printshop. The resulting works capture McCarthy’s most iconic subjects—icebergs, the Antarctic, and coastal Newfoundland. With a confident command of form and colour, McCarthy’s bold compositions distill essential aspects of the Canadian landscape, offering viewers a vivid glimpse into the remote locations that inspired her most.

Doris McCarthy first visited Newfoundland in the mid-1970s and would return many times over the course of her career. The coastal villages became a favourite subject, with their colourful homes dotting the rocky coastline. Baie Verte, situated on the northeast coast of Newfoundland within White Bay, is one such community that captured McCarthy’s attention.

Please note this work is unframed, and the full sheet size is 22 x 30 inches. Please contact Heffel Calgary for framed print pricing.
