signed Francis H. Johnston and dated 1918 and on verso titled and inscribed This painting was made on the spot during a trip in the wilds of Algoma, in the autumn of 1918 - to be exact Sept. 23rd. The view is taken near the Algoma Central Railway about 96 miles north of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., and is typical of the country throughout northern Ontario.
