Jules Olitski’s Pressure Compact is a bold late work where his signature “suspended” colour takes on a striking physical presence. Built up in thick layers of acrylic and enamel, the surface is richly textured, with sweeping gestures and splattered passages set against a luminous ground. Both visceral and atmospheric, it’s a compelling example of Olitski pushing painting to its limits.
